All the world said they couldn't possibly live but Yvonne (center) just waved her five-inch arms that chilly May morning at 4 o'clock with the same enthusiasm she demonstrates here and the others (Marie at left with Annette, and Cecile at right with Emilie) followed suit. Sixty times before in 500 years of medical history, quintuplets were born but none ever lived to celebrate a first birthday. Caring for these little sisters has become big business. Normal income for a year runs around $150,000 and guardianship expenditures are over $50,000. To Dr. Allan Roy Dafoe goes the credit for this mordern miracle.
