Dionnes Reunited
Seven years ago this month the world's most famous and unique children, its only quintuplets, were separated legally and physically from their parents, Oliva and Elzire Dionne. The five identical misses were placed under the control of an unprecedented guardianship created by the Province of Ontario. They were given into the care of the doctor who delivered them and saved their lives, Allan Roy Dafoe, and were moved into a nursery erected for them.
But, and this is news, the extent of their separation from their family has decreased to a point where they see as much of their kin as probably most youngsters in well-to-do families with governesses and nurses for their children. Their parents visit them daily for as long as they like and Sunday is always a family day.
Here, for the first time, you see the family reuinted before a newspaper camera and are given an opportunity to see the parents as they look today, and compare Quints and brothers and sisters.
Official studies of the Quintuplets indicate that after seven years of unique upbringing, the intelligence of all five is above normal and that their health is so good that their life expectancy is greater than for the average child of their age.
